If I believed what you believe, I’d probably be acting exactly the same way you are right now.

Great quote. "Judge not lest ye be judged" seems like a similar one wouldn’t you say?
Damien,
I have often wondered what you do with 1st Cor. 5 when you use such a quote. We as Christian people will soon judge the world and angels. We better get used to it!
Yeah, that’s not a concept I’ve dwelt on much. I’ll need God’s help to judge anybody. To tell you the truth, I’ll probably leave it up to Him as much as possible. I think that’s a safer move. Anyway … sorry if I misinterpreted the quote, it was really short.
Damien - Could you expand a little on what similarities you saw between the quote and yours about judging?
Of course Seth Godin is talking about bad judgment calls we make and then relates that to marketing, but I’m still not sure I would completely agree with the quote on that level. I didn’t consider it in the terms of not judging at all.
Even if I do what you do – per the quote – it doesn’t eliminate any judgment does it?
Hi Kirk. Oops. It’s such a short quote, I guess I mistook what you meant with it.
It immediately reminded me of the beginning of the Great Gatsby where F. Scott Fitzgerald says something to the effect of: "My father always said before you judge someone always remember that not everyone has had the advantages that you have had."
I’m sorry I took it so far afield on your thread. I agree with what the Z was saying as well.
Umm, as far as my interpretation goes … maybe it means: tell people what you know so they will see things like you do: rhetoric at its best. I’d be interested in reading a little more on how you read the quote and why you posted it.
Quite often I am the last to "get it," just ask my wife.
Nice to see you posting more!
Damien – I see what you’re saying by judging.
When I first saw the quote, I thought, "Hm…that’s interesting." The original context was talking about bad judgement calls. I didn’t think of it like judging between right and wrong, but wrather just making the wronge conclusions about somone.
Since I don’t know if I agree with the quote comepletely, I threw it out there to see what others had to say.
Kirk: That’s a cool thing about Tumblelogs, minimal stuff like short quotes is fair game and even expected.
Even though I changed my look fron the straight tumblelog – I consider my "Postcards" blog to be one still — well, maybe a tumble-hybrid as I have heard said lately.
I got my MA in rhetoric so I am very interested in Plato and Aristotle and all that talk of persuasion and logic and stuff. I think your quote is right up my alley. Sometimes I think our opponents would do just as we do if they had all the 411 we have. It encourages me to communicate more on all levels with those around me I might share the gospel with.
Thanks for throwing that one up. I am intrigued by Seth too, I needto read his blog more.
